Stephan Widmer departs SSA early

The Singapore Swimming Association (SSA) today announced that national swimming head coach and performance director, Stephan Widmer and SSA have mutually agreed to terminate his contract as of 17 October 2021.   Widmer had gone on overseas leave before the Tokyo Olympics opened on July 23 and was due to return to Singapore in mid-October. However, he has not flown back to Singapore from China as of Monday. Ting Wen misses out on 100m Freestyle Semi-Finals at Tokyo 2020

National swimmer Quah Ting Wen was the last of the swimming Olympians to hit the pool in the Tokyo Aquatics Centre at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics when she swam in the Women's 100m Freestyle heats on Wednesday, 28 July. Swimming in heat 4, the National Record holder and third-time Olympian clocked a time of 56.36s, to finish 8th in her heat. Her timing saw her place 36 out of 51 swimmers overall. Quah Zheng Wen misses out on 200m Butterfly Semis

Day 3 of the swimming competition at the Tokyo Olympics saw national swimmer Quah Zheng Wen take to the pool once more for the heats of the Men's 200m Butterfly. Having not made the semi-finals for the Men's 100m Backstroke, Quah was looking to emulate his 2016 Rio Olympics performance when he made the semi-finals of the Men's 200m Butterfly. Quah Zheng Wen finishes third in his heat in Men's 100m Backstroke at Olympic Games

Singapore saw her first Olympic swimmer hit the pool on Day 2 of the Tokyo Olympics swimming event on Sunday, 25 July. National swimmer Quah Zheng Wen clocked a time of 53.94s in the Men's 100m Backstroke Heats at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
