SNSC gets new title sponsor in Ajinomoto/aminoVITAL
The Singapore Swimming Association (SSA) today announced that Ajinomoto (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. (Ajinomoto Singapore), the association’s Official Sports Nutrition Partner, through its aminoVITAL products, will be the new title sponsor of the upcoming Singapore National Swimming Championships (SNSC) taking place from 23 to 27 June. The SNSC makes its return after one year, with the event cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The event will be known as the Ajinomoto/aminoVITAL 16th Singapore National Swimming Championships Invitational (Major Games Qualifier) and will be the final opportunity for local based national swimmers to qualify for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics.
Mr Takeshi Tsujii, Managing Director of Ajinomoto Singapore said, “The SNSC is one of the biggest swimming events here in Singapore where many swimmers compete in the hope of representing Singapore at the different major games. We are happy and delighted to be able to come on board as the title sponsor to help these swimmers achieve their dreams through aminoVITAL, our Amino Acid based Sports Nutrition products.”
Mr Lee Kok Choy, President of SSA, said, “Despite the challenges faced during this uncertain period, we are delighted to have Ajinomoto Singapore as the title sponsor of the SNSC. With the many changes to the format of the event due to the restrictions put in place by the authorities, we are thankful for the understanding that Ajinomoto Singapore has shown and appreciate their commitment to be part of this event.”
Due to COVID-19 restrictions put in place by the Singapore authorities, this years Ajinomoto/aminoVITAL 16th Singapore National Swimming Championships Invitational (Major Games Qualifier) will be a scaled down event, featuring only the top 24 invited swimmers per gender per event for all 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m & 1500m events. The invites will be based on Performance Times achieved from 1st December 2020 till 6th June 2021 at SSA Meets, SSA / FINA / National Federation-sanctioned Meets or Overseas Meets.
This meet will serve as a qualification meet for the upcoming major games for this year – the Tokyo Olympic Games in July, the SEA Games in Vietnam and the Asian Youth Games in China in November, as well as the FINA World Championships (25m) for 2021 and the FINA World Championships in 2022.
While the event will be a closed-door event, the finals will be streamed live daily on SSA’s Facebook Page, from 6pm on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and from 5pm on Saturday and Sunday.
